AHA Digs in at Run for the Oaks

On Saturday, March 13, 2010, 625 runners gathered at Moore Square to run for the Oaks. Now in it’s 28th year, Run for the Oaks proceeds go towards planting trees in Raleigh.  The run is a fundraiser for the Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department’s NeighborWoods Program.  The NeighborWoods program fosters a partnership between the City of Raleigh and its’ citizens toward planting and caring for street trees in residential neighborhoods. Through the program, the City gives free trees to residents in exchange for planting and caring for the trees. The NeighborWoods program has planted over 5,500 trees since it began in 2003! AHA was happy to be there to promote the Dig In! Community Gardens Summit.
